The Christmas TV Strategy Guide – December 18th 2016
1250 – ITV1 – You have to feel Ed Norton was a bit short changed with this Hulk film; enjoyable though it was it was right at the beginning of the Marvel films before they got their ducks in a row and gave the world The Avengers and a much better Hulk with another actor
1645 – ITV1 – It’s Christmas, this is a bit weird and rubbish but you have to watch it. It’s law.
1710 – Channel 4 – Cars is unfairly maligned. Well, at least the first one is, the second one deserves everything given to it. No, the first is a prime Pixar and is a hoot
1835 – Horror – Captain America. No date on it. Doesn’t say First Avenger so must be one of the others. Care to take a gamble?
1940 – BBC2 – 2016 has been a shit year, mainly thanks to beloved famous people dying left right and centre. One of these was Victoria Wood, which is why we have this run of shows looking back at her career, probably worth it for the clips alone
2100 – Channel 5 – A The Rock double bill, neither one quite is best but you’ll never be disappointed by a film with The Rock in it. Unless it’s a kids film he’s in, try to steer clear of those
2220 – ITV1 – The problem with putting this film here is that it was probably on last week on ITV2 such is the way it gets played to death. Still, it’s a great action film and a parody film that actually knows how to be a parody without descending into Scary Movie Hell
0140 – Movies 4 Men – Back from that post 1989 Batman world when any comic book property was being snapped up, here’s a take on the indie classic Tank Girl. It’s not a patch on the source material but that was some superb casting for the role of Tank Girl herself
